Established in 2023, the team has quickly become a dominant force in the competition, clinching back-to-back titles in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons. Home fixtures have been hosted at Musgrave Park in Cork, Ravenhill Stadium in Belfast, and Donnybrook Stadium in Dublin.

Coaching Team

Head Coach: Neill Alcorn

Neill Alcorn, the IRFU Women’s National Talent Coach for Ulster, continues as head coach of the Wolfhounds. He is supported by assistant coaches Maz Reilly, a former Irish international, and Ben Martin. Their combined experience has been instrumental in the team’s recent successes.

2024/25 Squad

The Wolfhounds’ squad comprises players from the Ireland national team, the Irish Women’s National Talent Squad (WNTS) pathway, and standout performers from the Interprovincial Series and the Energia Women’s All Ireland League. While the team primarily features talent from Leinster and Ulster, players from other provinces also contribute to the squad’s depth.

Leadership

The Wolfhounds’ captain for the 2024/25 Celtic Challenge season was Claire Boles. She led the team throughout the campaign, including their decisive victory over Edinburgh Rugby in the final round, securing their second consecutive title.

Boles’ leadership was evident in key matches, such as the semi-final against Gwalia Lightning, where she scored a hat-trick in the first half, contributing significantly to the team’s success.
