The Celtic Challenge is delighted to announce the return of the BBC as an official broadcast partner for the upcoming season.

Following a successful partnership over the 2024/25 season, the BBC will once again play host to some of the key moments across the Celtic Challenge, bringing the action directly to fans across the UK. Each round will see two matches covered live on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website, alongside highlights and all of the play-off action, ensuring greater visibility and accessibility of the women’s game.
The BBC has played a key role in helping elevate the visibility of the Celtic Challenge in recent years – driving viewership, expanding fan engagement, and delivering powerful stories that have helped shine a light on the league’s rising stars. This renewed partnership reflects a shared ambition to grow and celebrate the women’s game across Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
Earlier this year, the BBC served as the UK rights holder for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, offering comprehensive coverage and analysis of the tournament. Now, many of those international stars who lit up the global stage are set to return to the Celtic Challenge, with over 38 players from the tournament expected to feature in the upcoming season. Their return adds even greater intensity to a competition already known for its talent development and cross-border rivalries.
Speaking on behalf of the Celtic Challenge, Josh Payne said:
“We’re thrilled to welcome back the BBC as an official broadcast partner this season. Their ongoing support has been instrumental in expanding our audience and shining a light on some of the incredible players in our league.”
“Following their standout coverage of the recent Rugby World Cup, we’re excited to continue working together to share the stories and successes of the players now ready to battle it out in the Celtic Challenge.”
Graham Davies, Editor, BBC Sport Wales added:
“We’re delighted to be showing the Celtic Challenge again this season across the BBC Nations. It’s a very exciting cross-border competition, and an important part of our portfolio of live sport. We’re delighted that our audiences on iPlayer will have access to matches every week, and that we can give the competition, our leading players, and future stars, the platform and visibility they deserve, as they inspire the next generation of rugby players.”
In addition to the live weekly coverage from the BBC, fans across the globe can expect additional weekly coverage from TG4 and on the Celtic Challenge YouTube channel, offering unprecedented access to the competition, ensuring fans can follow the action anywhere in the world.
